Hi,
I am writing to you to submit for evaluation a scalability challenge concerning geographical data in Listing Type Profile, where multiple address fields are needed.
My Listing needs to track independent country fields (e.g., Birthplace, Residence Place) and one specific Geocoding field for the residence address.
1. The Double Technical Obstacle
A. WordPress Taxonomy Conflict: Using the same Taxonomy for multiple independent country fields is impossible. Duplicating Taxonomies is illogical, unsustainable, and prevents the creation of unified country archives.
B. Google Geocoding Limit: Voxel’s current static setting forces selection of only 5 countries for Autocomplete (required by the API). This fails for users residing elsewhere, who get no search results and are forced into frustrating manual map selection.
The Proposed Solution: Voxel Country Code Selector Field (Meta Field)
What do you think about introducing a new Voxel Proprietary Field Type (saved as Post Meta), dedicated to country selection via ISO code?
This integration would cleanly unlock the scenario:
Resolves the Taxonomy Conflict: The Country Selector Meta Field can be reused limitlessly for any country field.
Replaces the Static Filter:
The author selects their Country (e.g., IT).
Voxel updates the Address Autocomplete dynamically, limiting it exclusively to that country (componentRestrictions: country: [‘IT’]).
Do you believe this is a feasible solution to make Voxel more flexible?
Thanks.
