I am using the search form (VX) to create a landing page for different geographical regions of my directory site. As such i’m using a hidden filter for my ‘region’ taxonomy.

I then want the user to be able to select from categories to refine the results further.

There is an option to ‘hide empty terms’ but this does not take in to consideration my hidden filter – meaning there are many empty categories available within the filter.

Is it possible to have ‘hide empty terms’ take in to consideration this additional filter so I can provide a cleaner menu to users?

If that is not possible, am I able to just provide the parent categories as filters, guaranteeing that the categories will contain results?
